PURPOSE: To offer an oscillator with small size, suitable for mass-production, and with excellent electric characteristic by placing a piezoelectric vibrator chip and an IC chip of an integrated circuit constituting an oscillator circuit while they are arranged along the lengthwise direction of a dual line package.

CONSTITUTION: The vibrator chip 13 is contained in the package 11 while the chip 13 formed longer in the X direction is allowed to correspond to the lengthwise direction of the package 11. The dimension of the vibrator chip is selected as a/h>45, c/h>10, where (a) is the length in the X axis, (c) is the length in the Z axis and (h) is the thickness in the Y axis. Then the integrated circuit IC chip 14 constituting the oscillation circuit is provided next to said vibrator chip 13 along the lengthwise direction in the package 11, electrodes of the oscillation circuit led out to both ends of the vibrator chip 13 in the lengthwise direction, the IC chip 14 and terminals 12 are connected and applied with continuity respectively by soldering, thermocompression bonding or wire bonding or the like.
