To provide a method for controlling the delivery rate of an effective agent from an osmotic delivery system incorporated with a semipermeable body assembly.
The method for controlling the delivery rate of the effective agent from the osmotic delivery system containing an enclosure having an interior portion keeping a liquid expandable penetrating agent and the effective agent and containing a plug having the semipermeable body which is at least partially positioned in an opening of the enclosure, comprises following steps; a step for deciding the objective delivery rate of the effective agent, a step for selecting the plug having the hollow interior portion having a size selected to obtain a predetermined liquid permeation rate through the semipermeable body, a step for at least partially inserting the plug when the enclosure is opened, and a step for locating the osmotic delivery system in an environment of use.
