To provide heating plates which curb power consumption and are highly efficient and to provide a both-sided simultaneous fixing device which ensures stable fixing capability over the entire area of a web.
A printing apparatus such as a printer includes: a web conveying means which conveys a continuous web; an image recording means which has a toner carrier and transfers a toner image formed on the surface of the toner carrier to one or both sides of the web; and the fixing device which fixes the toner image transferred to the web. The fixing device has the heating plates having heat sources, which are disposed opposite both the sides of the web without being in contact with them. In the printing apparatus, thermal shield members are disposed in the vicinity of both ends of each heating plate.
