To provide an overcoat forming apparatus capable of obtaining better glossiness and durability by more uniformly forming an overcoat on a surface by preventing the rubbing of the surface on which the overcoat is formed to the utmost.
The overcoat forming apparatus 10 has a forming mechanism 30 for forming the overcoat on the first surface f1 of recording paper P and a feed mechanism 40 for supplying the recording paper P housed in a paper supply tray 13 to the forming mechanism 30. The forming mechanism 30 has a carriage 35 moving while ejecting an overcoat forming liquid from the nozzle of a liquid jet head 35a to form the overcoat. The feed mechanism 40 is equipped with follower rollers 47a and 47b coming into contact with the first surface f1 having the overcoat formed thereon and first and second feed roller mechanisms 43 and 44 comprising drive rollers 46a and 46b coming into contact with the second surface opposite to the first surface.
