PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convey an article to be conveyed in a condition that a distance between the matter to be conveyed and a process processor is minimized, by preventing the change of a direction of the article to be conveyed grasped by a hand, even when a travelling carriage part is entered into a branch point, and is rotated. SOLUTION: A hand 9 is lowered from a hand suspending part 7 of an overhead conveying vehicle 5 to grasp an article to be conveyed 25 by a claw 10, and then the hand 9 is lifted and lowered to grasp the article to be conveyed 25 in a suspended state. Then to convey the article to be conveyed 25 by the overhead conveying vehicle 5, a travelling carriage part 6 is travelled to be conveyed to a rotary branching device (branch point part) 3, and is stopped in a table track 13. A motor for table 15 is driven in this state to rotate a turn table 12 only by 90 degree. Simultaneously the driving of a motor for hand 20 is controlled, for rotating the hand suspending part 7 (hand 9) in a direction opposite to the rotating direction of the turn table 12 only by 90 degree. Whereby the table track 13 can be connected with a bypass track 4 without changing the direction of the article to be conveyed 25 grasped by the hand 9.
