Abstract:

To oxidize various hydrocarbons under a mild condition by molecular oxygen using an oxidation catalyst because the oxidation catalyst is easily separated after use and can be reused and to manufacture epoxides, alcohols, ketones or carboxylic acids efficiently and economically.

The oxidation catalyst comprises fixing a transition metal to a nitrogen compound supported carrier wherein a nitrogen compound is chemically bonded to a hydroxy group-containing carrier by the formation of a complex of the nitrogen compound and the transition metal. Hydrocarbons are oxidized in the presence of this catalyst by molecular oxygen.
