To obtain an oxide superconductor having an oxide superconductive thin film of high critical current density as a result of improving crystal orientation, and to provide a method for producing such a superconductor.
This oxide superconductor is such that an intermediate layer 2 and an oxide superconductive thin film 3 thereon are formed on a substrate 1 having the main plane; wherein the intermediate layer 2 has a crystal structure grown slantly relative to the main plane of the substrate 1, and the oxide superconductive thin film 3 which is formed on the intermediate layer 2 has the composition [REBa2(Cu3-xTMx)Oy] with part of the Cu sites of the RE(rare earth)-based 123 structure (REBa2Cu3Oy) substituted with a transition metal element(TM).
