PURPOSE: To enhance the removal efficiency of clad, by forming powdery oxine added activated carbon having particle size distribution such that 100 mesh or less is 0W5%, 100W325 mesh is 80W95% and 325 mesh or less is 5W15%.
CONSTITUTION: A filter aid for filtering the metal ion and suspended substance contained in water is formed of powdery oxide added activated carbon having particle size distribution such that 100 mesh or less is 0W5%, 100W325 mesh is 80W95% and 325 mesh or less is 5W15%. The oxine added activated carbon with a large particle size of 100 mesh or more has almost no clad filtering effect and only a fine powdery one with a particle size of 325 mesh or less has clad filtering effect. The filter aid having the aforementioned particle size distribution is enhanced in the capacities represented by clad removal efficiency and a durable time.
