PURPOSE: To make the assembling property excellent and to make this sensor compact without damaging an inner electrode layer by inserting and coupling an elastic terminal into the recess part of the opening part of an oxygen detecting element, and bringing the elastic terminal into contact with the recess part.
CONSTITUTION: This sensor is composed of the following parts: an oxygen detecting element 3; an inner electrode layer 21 which is provided at the inner surface of the element 3; an outer electrode layer 31 which is provided at the outer surface; an elastic terminal 1 which is connected to the upper part of the element 3; and a lead wire 50 which is connected to the terminal 1. When the element 3 is connected to the terminal 1, the terminal 1 is coupled into a recess part 30 of the element 3 under the state wherein a contact part 11 of the terminal 1 is slightly closed. The contact part 11 tends to return to the free state in the recess part 30 and comes into contact with the wall surface of the recess part 30 elastically. A terminal part 20 is formed at the inner wall of the recess part 30 together with the electrode layer 21. The terminal 1 is electrically connected to the electrode layer 21 through the terminal part 20. Therefore, the electric output of the electrode layer 21 is taken out through the terminal part 20, the terminal 1 and the lead wire 50.
