NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R1 is H or (protected) amino; R2 is H or (substituted) lower alkyl; R3 is H or group substituted at 3-position of cephalosporins; R4 is CO2H, CO or CO2R5 (R5 is salt-forming cation or carboxyl-protecting group)] and its salt.
EXAMPLE: 7-[2-(2-Aminothiazol-4-yl)-4-methoxyimino-2-butenamido]-3-(1- methyltetrazol-5-yl)thiomethyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid sodium salt (Z)-isomer.
USE: An antibacterial agent against Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I is produced by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula III. The compound of formula III is a novel substance which can be produced by using the compound of formula IV as a starting substance.
