Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion resistance by coating monolithic metal, alloy, oxide or combination thereof comprising Al and Co and/or Ni on the surface of an iron type material, whereby the coating material is diffused at the surface layer through heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:Iron is adopted as a base material on which each of monolithic metal, alloy, oxide or combination thereof comprising Al, Co and/or Ni are coated and heat-treated to diffuse. Then immersing in a bath of fused carbonate containing Li2CO3, a lithium aluminate coating is formed from Al on the surface of the material. The arrangement results in improved corrosion resistance as well as better adhesion of the lithium aluminate coating to the material because of a formation of amorphous spinel oxide layer from Co and Ni.
