PURPOSE: To obtain the bankbook entry device which can be improved in operability while suppressing an increase in the cost by providing a display means which is placed normally in a nondisplay state and displays the occurrence of a fault if the fault occurs.
CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display panel 2 which has a transparent touch panel on a display surface is provided above a bankbook receiving and discharging slot 2, and a guidance display plate 4 is provided above the liquid crystal display panel 3. Further, a clerk key 11 that a clerk operates is provided below the bankbook receiving and discharging slot 2. The liquid crystal display panel 3 is placed normally in the nondisplay state. If a fault, e.g. a jam occurs while an entry into a bankbook is made, 'in trouble' showing that the trouble occurs is displayed to the user. Consequently, the operability is improved as compared with a conventional device and the liquid crystal display panel 3 is placed normally in the nondisplay state to prolong the life of the display screen and reduce the power consumption.
