To provide a package inspection instrument which enables an operator to perform visual inspection easily and completely regardless of the magnitude of the diameter and weight of a package.

This package inspection instrument is provided with a columnar member 2 projectingly-mounted on a base plate 1 in the vertical direction, a support means 10 projectingly-mounted in the horizontal direction, a vertically movable package support mechanism 3 mounted on the columnar member 2 and a lighting means 4 mounted for lighting the periphery of the package supported by the support means 10 at prescribed intervals. The lighting means 4 consists of a screw body 15 protrudingly mounted on the columnar member 2 in the direction opposite to the support means 3, a support member 14 fixed to the columnar member 2 by a handle 16 at which an elongate hole 14a is movably formed at the screw body 15 and is screwed into the screw body 15, a luminaire 17 which a light projecting groove 17a is mounted on one end of the support member 14 so as to be parallel to the support means 10, and a balancing weight 18 mounted on the other end of the support means 14.
