To eliminate a problem that an item to be packaged placed on a pallet must be set in an arch-shaped guide frame when a band is applied by a prior art packaging to the item to be packaged placed on the pallet.
A band feeding mechanism, a band adhering mechanism and a band cutting mechanism are installed within a main body of a packaging machine. This packaging machine is comprised of a vertical table 3 extending along an item to be packaged placed on a pallet or the like, a band guide 7 which can be loaded or unloaded in a horizontal direction from below the vertical table 3, a supporting mechanism for slidably supporting this band guide 7 within the main body, and wheels 17 arranged at the main body. The band guide 7 slides above the ground contacting surfaces of the wheels 17.
