To provide a packet receiver provided with the compatibility of the high speed reception required for the prescribed packets and the existing protocol and particularly suitable for reception processing of video / audio streams.
The packet receiver 101 comprises: an application 106; a communication access control program 104; and a communication control apparatus 106, and the communication access control program 104 has a first protocol stack 102 with high extendability but requiring a high processing load and a second protocol stack 103 for being particularized to the prescribed packets to realize high speed reception processing so that the packet receiver can process large capacity multimedia information such as video / audio streams at high speed while keeping the compatibility with the existing protocol.
