To provide a packet switch device capable of transmitting a packet according to an output speed to paths whose output speeds are different without deteriorating the use efficiency of a shared memory.

A storage means 2 stores a packet in the unused area of a shared memory 1. An enqueue means 4 enqueues a pointer indicating a packet in a queue corresponding to each path to which the packet is scheduled to be transmitted. A transmitting means 5 dequeues the enqueued pointer for each queue corresponding to each path. Then, the transmitting means 5 transits the packet indicated by the dequeued pointer to the path corresponding to the queue at a prescribed speed for each path. When the quantity of the enqueued pointers exceeds prescribed quantity, an abandoning means 6 abandons the pointers successively from the head of each queue for each queue corresponding to each path. Thus, it is possible to transmit the packet at an individual speed to each path, and to prevent the depletion of the available area of the shared memory.
