Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enhance the shock absorbing capacity at the corners of a packing by a method wherein the corner part of the inside of a pad material is provided with a side piece and doubly folded pieces joined thereto.
CONSTITUTION: A pad material 2 is formed by folding a sheet of corrugated cardboard. The side pieces 21 at both sides are formed upright directly from both side edges of a bottom piece 20. Front and rear end pieces 22 are formed upright from the folded-over pieces 23 made up at the front and rear ends of the bottom piece 20 and the end pieces 22 are extended from both the edges and folded back to form doubly folded pieces 25. The doubly folded parts of this folded piece 25 are joined to the inside of the side pieces 21 at the corner parts of the pad material 2. The end parts of the folded-pieces 25 are joined to the front and rear parts of the side pieces 21 extending forward and rearward past the end pieces 22. In this way the inside of the corner part forms a three- layer board consisting of the side piece 21 and the folded pieces 25 and when a side pad is additionally used for packing forms a four-layer board. Therefore, the effectiveness in preventing the damage to an object being packed becomes extremely high.
