PURPOSE: To improve workability in constructing an eye joint by composing a metallic packing, which is built into an upper seal face and a lower seal face of an eye joint respectively, of an integrated body using a metallic packing provided with upper and lower packing parts corresponding with respective seal faces and a latch part.

CONSTITUTION: A U-shaped copper packing 8 is formed by punching an upper packing part, 8a, lower packing part. 8b, and a fixing hole 8c in a steel plate and bending the steel plate into a U-shape. In the U-shaped copper packing 8, the fixing hole 8c is fitted into a neck part 7 of an eye joint to be fixed by means of welding, brazing, adhesive, or the like. By a packing built-in eye joint 6 constructed in this way, the upper packing part 8a and the lower packing part 8b are integrally mounted and fixed on the upper and the lower seal faces of the eye joint, so that a failure in installation of the packing can be prevented in assembly while alignment can be carried out extremely easily.
