Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent powdering or crumbling of a Mo-contg. oxide catalyst when packed in a reactor by dropping the catalyst, by mixing the catalyst with a specified proportion of a packing subsidiary material which shows a specified packing volume reducition when force of specified packing density is given to the material.
CONSTITUTION: A packing subsidiary material (e.g. carbon steel) is mixed by 1-70wt.% to a Mo-contg. oxide catalyst and then dropped and packed in a reactor tube. This packing subsidiary material shows 1.0-40.0% packing volume reduction when the packing density is 0.1-1.0g/ml and 0.1Kg/cm2 force is given. Namely, by mixing the packing subsidiary material with the catalyst to pack the mixture in the reactor, the catalyst can be prevented from becoming a powder or breaking due to physical impacts to the catalyst during dropping. Thereby, the yield of various reaction products using this Mo-contg. oxide catalyst can be improved. Moreover, it is not necessary to increase the mechanical strength of catalyst against powdering of the catalyst during packing. Thereby, the catalyst can be produced in a wide production conditions with little limit for designing the catalyst.
