Abstract:
To provide an expansion graphite packing to having a high compression amount and restoration amount, excellent in sealing ability on the working condition of a low fastening pressure.
Heat resisting fibers, such as flame resisting fibers, carbon fibers, glass fibers, or ceramic fibers, having a tensile elastic modulus of 3.0×104 kgf/mm2 or less are bundled or braided to form a string-form substance, which is used as an inner core 1. A plurality of weaving threads 2 formed such that a tape made of expansion graphite the periphery of which is covered with reinforcing fibers are braided to form a string-form packing 3. Further, the string-form packing 3 is compression-molded in an annular shape to form a ring-form packing.
