Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a pad for disk brake, simple in structure, easy to manufacture and inexpensive in cost, which comprises a sintered friction member having a required shape and a heat-insulating member formed integrally with the friction member by way of molding to locate on the surface facing the piston. CONSTITUTION:A pad for disk brake is manufactured by forming heat-insulating member 9 or 11 on the surface of friction member 8 or 10 sintered in an appropriate shape, facing the piston, by way of extrusion or pressure molding so that the former is integral with the latter. Here, if heat-insulating member 9 or 11 is held in contact with piston, conduction of heat produced by friction member 8 or 10 to piston is prevented by heat-insulating member 9 or 11, so that piston and cylinder can be protected against deformation due to thermal strain and damages due to deterioration of lubricating oil or the like. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to simplify the structure of pad, to facilitate manufacture of the same and to lower the manufacturing costs.
