PURPOSE: To enable each pallet to be carried between the outward bound and the homeward bound by means of one set of chains by carrying a work by each rectangular pallet the short side of which is smaller than a space between paired carrying chains, and thereby providing transshipping means at the upstream and downstream sides where the work can thereby be transshipped between the outward bound and the homeward bound while the pallet 1 is being kept horizontal in a free-flow type pallet conveyor device by means of carrying chains.
CONSTITUTION: Each pallet 3 is formed into a rectangular shape in such a way that the long side (a) of each pallet is made longer than a space (d) between one set of carrying chains 7a and 7b, and the short side (b) is made smaller than the space (d), and each pallet is carried by the chains 7a and 7b to the direction along the short side (b) while the long side (a) is directed in the transverse direction. And transshipping means 8 are provided for the both ends of a carrying chain 7 at its upstream and downstream end sections. Each transshipping device 8 is made up out of a pallet receiving stand 9, a lifting cylinder 10 and a turning actuator 11 wherein each pallet 3 is horizontally supported by the receiving stand 9, and is tuned around while being lifted up and/or lowered down, so that each pallet 3 is transshipped between the outward bound and the homeward bound through the chains 7a and 7b.
