Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously remove dirts and to prevent flaws which adversely affect a cathode-ray tube, by roughening the surface of a specific % or above the width direction of a panel sealing end face into the average depth, the average cycle of irregularity and a ratio of the average depth to the average cycle, respectively in the specific ranges. SOLUTION: The average depth Rz of irregularity which enables prevention generation of flaws on a panel sealing end face in transportation and to make the flaws discontinuous in the width direction needs to be in the range of 5-20 μm, and preferably is in the range of 7-15 μm. And, the generation of partial conductivity caused by the dirts can be prevented by selecting the optimum cycle of the irregularity of a roughened surface. This average cycle Sm is efficient in the range of 150-400 μm, especially it is preferably in the range of 180-300 μm. Further, it is efficient that the ratio Rz /Sm of the two parameters of the roughened surface is in the range of 0.015-0.13, in order for the compatibility of the preventive effects of the continuous flaws and the adhesion of dirt.
