Title:
PAPER DETECTING CIRCUIT FOR OPTICAL CHARACTER READER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5887665
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the required amount of a picture storage memory, by providing a circuit omitting unnecessary picture information from a picture data at the out side of a designated reading region on paper.

CONSTITUTION: A binary signal converted at a binary circuit is shifted at a shift register 15 and inputted to an AND circuit 18 and an NOR circuit 19. Since outputs of the circuits 18, 19 are inputted to J, K terminals of a JK FF20, the output of the FF20 is not inverted if a plurality of bits of binary signals are not consecutive, and the preceding state is kept. Thus, the FF20 is not changed at balck parts where only several bits are consecutive such as the character pattern, and changed only when a lot of bits are consecutive such as side and ridge of paper, then characters on paper can be regarded as omitted. When no reading field signal 14 exists, an input signal 24 to a data compression circuit can be obtained through an AND gate 21 and an OR gate 23. A shift register 16 corrects the delay in the circuit and when the signal 14 exists, a signal 24 is obtained through circuits 22 and 23.
