To improve operability in taking out or refilling paper by providing a paper feed cassette which comprises a cassette composing body folded down into two parts in the direction of pulling-out and a part of recording paper placing plate of which are exposed outside when the cassette composing body is folded down into two parts.

A paper feed cassette is moved in the direction of D, a front cassette composing member 1A is turned downward around a pin 2 by its self- weight. While the front cassette composing member 1A is separated from a recording paper placing plate 5, a pin 6 fitted in the plate 5 is pulled out in the direction of D by the shape of a guide 7. An engaging pin 3 of the front cassette composing member 1A is fitted in the recess 1B1 of a rear cassette composing member 1B to stop the turn of the front cassette composing member 1A, whereby the pin 6 is stopped at the upper end of the guide 7. The front end of the recording paper placing plate 5 is exposed outside in the state where it is slid up in relation to the turned from cassette composing member 1A.
