PURPOSE: To make it possible to carry out both feeds for a large number of papers and for a small number of papers, by providing such an arrangement that the heights of front and rear plates of a paper feed container are made different from each other, the front and rear sections of side plates which are divided at their centers, are made corresponding to the heights of the front and rear plates, and as well push-up plates are arranged on the front and rear plate side sections, respectively.

CONSTITUTION: A paper-feed container 7 is formed of a low-height front plate 8, a high-height rear plate 9 and side plates 10, 11 which form stepped parts, corresponding to the heights of the front and rear plates 8, 9, and as well, push- up plates 13, 14 are attached to the front and rear plate 8, 9 sides, respectively. With this arrangement, the container 7 is inserted, from its rear plate 9 side, to an insertion inlet for a container for a large number of papers upon use of several papers, but is inserted, from its front plate 8 side, to an insertion inlet for a container for a small number of papers upon use of less papers. Thereby, upon respective times, the respective push-up plates 13, 14 are operated to feed papers. Accordingly, with the use of a single container, the feed of a large number of papers and the feed of a small number of papers may be carried out.
