PURPOSE: To provide a paper feed control device capable of detecting the num ber of paper sheets and the size of the paper sheets with high accuracy, and preventing an increase in cost of the device.

CONSTITUTION: A magnetism output part 28 and an induction coil 27 formed on a sensor based board 26 placed on a movable plate 17 in a paper feed cassette 15, are arranged at specified distance L from each other, and the change in intensity of the magnetic field of the magnetism output part 28, which is detected by the induction coil 27 from the movement of the movable plate moving up and down in response to the amount of remaining paper sheets, is detected as the change in voltage signal, and thereby the amount of remaining paper sheets can be determined.
