PURPOSE: To permit each paper feed part to be selected automatically by installing a means for detecting that each paper feed part is in paper feed enable state or not, onto each paper feed part, and allowing the detection means to detect that the corresponding paper feed part is put into paper feed enable state.

CONSTITUTION: A paper-feed controlling apparatus is equipped with a plurality of paper feed parts 1W3, and selects a paper feed part from which paper is fed. Switches SW1WSW15, and SW24 are installed as a means for detecting that the paper feed part is in paper-feed enable state or not, onto each paper feed part, and when a detection means detects that the corresponding paper feed part is transformed from the paper feed disable state to the paper feed enable state, the paper feed part is automatically selected. Therefore, when paper is fed, the paper feed part into which paper is supplied is automatically selected, and a user only feeds paper and is released from the trouble of selecting the paper feed part separately.
