To avoid reduction in operation efficiency of an image forming device, when stopping time of the device becomes much and long, for dehumidification for removing moisture included in a paper.

This paper feeder comprises a paper storage part, a paper feeding means for sending out the paper one by one from the paper storage part, a dehumidifying means HC dehumidifying the paper in the paper storage part, and a control means CR for controlling the dehumidifying means. In this case, the dehumidifying means has a blowing means for blowing air against the paper stored in a paper feeding tray 100 and a heater for reducing its relative humidity by heating the air. The control means CR also sets the possibility of dehumidification and dehumidification time in response to a type and hygroscopic degree of the paper loaded in the paper storage part on the basis of humidity information on outside air from a humidity sensor HS as a humidity detecting means.
