Abstract:
To prevent folded bundles from getting caught in a conveyance path to cause paper jamming.SOLUTION: A paper holding device includes: a conveyance roller pair that conveys a recording medium so as to freely advance/retreat; multiple folding roller pairs that convey the recording medium in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which the pair of conveyance rollers convey the recording medium so as to freely advance/retreat; a pair of guide means pair that execute folding processing of causing the recording medium to enter a nip of the folding roller pairs and folding it while alternately switching the folding roller pairs that guide the recording medium; and a control part that controls the folding roller pairs, the conveyance roller pair, and the guiding means, and skips the folding processing at least once when the number of folds of the folded bundle that has been subjected to the folding processing reaches the maximum number of folds that is the upper limit of a height that can be conveyed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 19
