PURPOSE: To simplify and lighten a paper money send-out and storage device, by setting a send- out and storage mechanism in an appointed send-out or storage position, moving a paper money storage section to the position, and keeping unappointed paper money storage sections in stand-by positions, so as to make it needless to provide send-out and storage mechanisms for different kinds of paper money respectively.

CONSTITUTION: When the kind of paper money to be sent out and the number of pieces of the paper money are appointed, it is judged whether or not a paper money send-out section 4 is set in a position corresponding to the appointed kind of the paper money. When it is judged that the section 4 is set in the position, it is judged whether or not a paper money storage section corresponding to the appointed kind of the paper money is set in a send-out position. When it is judged that the storage section is set in the send-out position, the motor 12 and conveyor belt 15 of the paper money send-out section 4 are driven. When one piece of the paper money is sent out by a send-out roller 13, the motor 12 is stopped. It is then checked whether or not two pieces of the paper money are sent out. When it is found out that the single piece of the paper money is properly sent out to the conveyor belt 15, the drive of the belt having conveyed the piece of the paper money to a paper money takeout opening 16 is stopped and the takeout of the sent-out piece of the paper money is started. If a piece of paper money is abnormally sent out, a flapper 11 is put in a retrieval position so that the abnormally sent-out piece of paper money is retrieved, and the appointed number of pieces of the paper money are thereafter taken out from the appointed storage section.
