This carrying device provided with a separating and supply part 63 which sends out downstream one by one a plurality of paper sheets 10 sent by paper sheet transporting means 12, by means of a rotating separating and supply belt 67 along with rotation of the belt 67, comprises a system control unit 100 which detects a thickness of a paper sheet 10 sent-out from the separating and supply part 63 by paper sheet thickness detecting means 113, and corrects a sending speed of the paper sheets 10 sent by paper sheet transporting means 12 based on output information of the paper sheet thickness detecting means 113.
