To perform reversal and conveyance of a paper sheet without generating paper jam by changing over transmission means of two systems, a same direction rotation transmission means and a reverse direction rotation transmission means, so as to always rotate a conveyance roller in the conveyance direction at rotating a normal/reverse rotation roller.
A paper sheet sent from a paper feed passage 11 is guided with a guide plate 9 so as to be conveyed as shown by the arrow mark X1, pinched between a normal/reverse rotation roller 2 rotating clockwise and an auxiliary roller 2b, and fed to a reversal passage 12. When the paper sheet is perfectly drawn in the reversal passage 12, the normal/reverse rotation roller 2 is rotated anticlockwise, and the paper sheet is conveyed in the direction of a discharge passage 13 as shown by the arrow mark X2. The paper sheet sent from the roller 2 is drawn in the discharge passage 13 by means of a conveyance roller 5 and an auxiliary roller 5b. The roller 2 is rotated again clockwise, the succeeding paper sheet is conveyed from the paper feed passage 11 to the reversal passage 12, and the precedingly drawn paper sheet is conveyed in the direction of the arrow mark X3.
