To provide a paper sheet feed mechanism for reducing the size and the weight of a paper sheet stapling device which can be connected to a page printer, a facsimile, a copying machine, etc.

The paper sheet stapling device 1 is mounted on an upper surface of a laser beam printer LBP, etc. A paper sheet discharge roller 14 is mounted on a tip part of a link arm 20, and a gear fitted to a shaft of the link arm via a torque limiter is connected to the paper sheet discharge roller 14 via an intermediate gear and a timing belt. When a paper sheet feed motor is driven in the forward direction, the link arm is elevated, and the paper sheets are drawn into a stapling table 29 by the paper sheet drawing-in roller 13. After aligning and stapling the paper sheets, the paper sheet feed motor is driven in the reverse direction, the link arm is lowered, the paper sheets are held by the paper sheet discharge roller 14 and a driven roller 11 for discharging paper sheets, and discharged to a stack tray 30.
