PURPOSE: To feed paper sheets reliably and stock them in good order by providing a latch means which engagingly locks a slider when an energizing plate is driven out and transferred to a non-acting position, and also providing a means to remove the locking.

CONSTITUTION: In the case of a paper money filling box, a boss portion 21a of an energizing plate 21 is supported by a guide bar 18 and a slider 27 above the boss portion 21a is slidably supported as well. When a filling box 2 is fitted into a device proper 1, a movable pin 31 of a latch member 29 is changed to a vertical position as it contacts with a cam surface 36 of the device proper 1. In this state, as a belt 19 is driven to lift the energizing plate 21, the slider 27 rises up. Immediately before the upper limit of the slider 27 is detected by a sensor 37, the latch member 29 once inclines down to allow an engagingly locking piece 28 to pass through. When the slider 27 is transferred to the upper limit position, the engagingly locking piece 28 is engaged with an engaging portion 34 to prohibit the slider 27 from lowering and the upper limit is detected by the sensor 37 to stop the rotary movement of the belt 19. Consequently, the energizing plate 21 is energized by its own weight to store and feed paper money 14.
