PURPOSE: To utilize a paper sheet guide device in common through each machine type, and to make the device compact by moving the paper sheet width display of a sliding plate following the movement of the sliding plate, when a guide part is moved, and by displaying the paper sheet width on a window provided on a shield plate.

CONSTITUTION: In a case where the width of a paper sheet P is narrow, when one side guide part 13a out of guide parts 13a, 13b is moved ward, a pinion gear 19 is rotated anticlockwise by a rack 21a on the side part which is in parallel to the moving direction of a sliding plate 15a, while the other rack 21b, i.e., the guide part 13b is moved inside by the same distance. By moving the sliding plate 15b in this way, the display of the paper sheet width observed from the notch window 25 of a shield plate 24 is changed from A4 to B5, and the paper sheet P is installed according to the width thereof. In another case where the width of the paper sheet P is wide, when the guide part 13b is moved outward, the gear 19 is rotated clockwise by the rack 21b on the side part which is in parallel to the moving direction of the sliding plate 15b, and the other rack 12b, i.e., the guide part 13a is moved outside by the same distance, and the display is changed from A4 to B4 by means of the rotation of the sliding plate 15b.
