This paper sheet processing device includes a first supply means for detecting the existence of paper sheets to be handled and for supplying the paper sheets in order, a processing means for processing the paper sheets which are supplied by the first supply means in order, a collecting means for collecting the paper sheets which are processed by the processing means in order, a second supply means for supplying slip sheets to the collecting means based on slip sheet request timing, and a control means for continuing the processing of the paper sheets based on the detection of the existence of a non-processed paper sheet even if the non-existence of a slip sheet is detected and for stopping the processing of the paper sheets based on the detection of the non-existence of a non-processed paper sheet.
