To move a stage in a storage part intermittently and stepwise in accordance with a storage amount of paper sheets in the storage part by a simple configuration.
A paper sheet storage device is provided with a stage holding mechanism 21 having a knotch member 23 which is provided on a side wall of a storage chamber constituting the storage part storing paper sheets in an aligned condition and in which recessed parts 22 are provided in a row in the direction of the sheet storage, an oscillating member 27 supported on the stare 18 moving when sheets are stored, an engaging member 26 which is provided at a tip of the oscillating member and is engaged with the recessed parts 22 of the knotch member 23, and an energizing means 28 energizing the oscillating member 27 in the direction in which the engaging member 26 is engaged with the recessed parts 22. The stage 18 moves intermittently due to stepwise engagement with the recessed parts 22 of the engaging member 26 when the paper sheets are stored.
