PURPOSE: To provide a paper sorting apparatus for sorting and storing a paper exhausted from a copier or the like, which is reduced to a compact size by forming the apparatus as an accordion and mounting a unit paper storing bin on a valley portion thereof.

CONSTITUTION: A paper which is dropped and transported along a paper guide chute 8, is dropped to be stored in a unit paper storing bin 2' outstretched by a pair of stoppers 7, 7. At this time a bin moving mechanism 9 is adapted to sequentially move each bin 2' and change the bin of storing a paper. That is, a solenoid 13 is excited by a drive signal from the outside and is connected to a spring clutch 12 to rotate a shaft 10 clockwise and press projecting portions 5a of a bin shaping member 5 through moving members 11, whereupon the projecting portions 5a flip stoppers 7, 7' with elastic deformation sequentially so that the stoppers 7, 7' get to a position for outstretching the bin 21'. Thus, the paper is stored in the bin 21' likewise.
