To perform the parallel installing operation automatically, mechanically, and continuously, whereby a plurality of works to be polished are laid one over another at one side of a substrate.
A parallel installing device is composed of a cutting device 1, an inverting device 7, a parallel placing member 4, a guide member 51, and a pressing member 52. The cutting device 1 cuts a long stretching material bit by bit so that upward inclined works to be polished having an inclined edge at the over-part and downward inclined works having an inclined edge at the under-part are formed one after another. The inverting device 7 inverts each downward inclined work so that it is equipped with an inclined edge in the over-part. The parallel placing member 4 is furnished with a plurality of polishing member inserting grooves 41...41 which are arranged radially at the oversurface. The guide member 51 has a guide groove 53 leading from the cutting device 1 to the polishing member inserting grooves 41 in the member 4. The pressing member 52 presses each upward inclined work in such a condition as having an inclined edge in the over-part or an inverted downward inclined work having an inclined edge in the over-part along the guide groove 53 from the cutting device 1 and thereby fits them in the polishing member inserting grooves 41 of the parallel placing member 4 one after another.
