Abstract:
To provide a particle beam irradiation device capable of expanding a Bragg peak width smoothly even when a Bragg peak is extremely thin and sharp, and forming uniform total dose distribution easily.SOLUTION: A particle beam irradiation device 50 includes an irradiation system 6 for irradiating an irradiation object 11 with a particle beam 10 transported from a particle beam generation and transport device 1. The irradiation system 6 includes a Bragg peak expansion filter 17 for decomposing the particle beam 10 into a plurality of particle beam components with different energies, and expanding the width in a depth direction of the Bragg peak in the irradiation object 11 by the decomposed particle beam components. The Bragg peak expansion filter 17 includes a first material part 18 having a thickness in a direction parallel to a beam axis 9, and a plurality of hole parts 19 disposed on a surface of the first material part 18 perpendicular to the beam axis 9, which penetrate in a direction parallel to the beam axis 9 or are recessed in a direction parallel to the beam axis 9.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
