PURPOSE: To enable a particle board having a large bending strength to be obtained in spite of low density by blending paper strips into lumber chips.
CONSTITUTION: Paper strips are blended together with small chips of plant structure into lumbers and the like. The material quality of the paper strips is preferable to be plant split fibrous quality of paper or the like and thus there being no other limitation, accordingly, foreign paper or board paper can be employed as a conventional raw material, in particular, it is preferable to utilize old paper which has already been used as paper in view of the effective utility of resources. Further, paper strips to be blended as small material chips are used after performing a flame-retardant treatment. Whereby a functional particle board having large bending strength at low density can be obtained, and a flame-retardant particle board given flame-retardancy by a simply method can be obtained.
