Abstract:
A particle detection sensor (1) is provided with: a light-projecting element (111) that projects light to a detection region (DA); and a light-receiving element (121) that receives light which is projected by the light-projecting element (111) and which is scattered by particles (2) each passing, at a speed depending on the particle diameter thereof, through the detection region (DA), and that generates an electric signal including a pulse-shaped waveform corresponding to the particles (2). The particle detection sensor (1) is further provided with an amplification circuit (212) that amplifies an electric signal inputted from the light-receiving element (121) at a higher amplification factor as the frequency of the electric signal is higher. The particle detection sensor (1) is further provided with an operation unit (222) that calculates, on the basis of the pulse width of the pulse-shaped waveform included in the amplified electric signal, the particle diameters of the particles (2) having passed through the detection region (DA).
