PURPOSE: To have alignment of an object for installation and make sure installation thereof by performing alignment while the shank of the object is clamped, and at the same time, furnishing a pair of installing/aligning pawls to be mounted on the piece between clamp takeout pawls.
CONSTITUTION: Flange 12 of a valve 10 is clamped by a clamp takeout pawls 22 installed at a hand 21 through the action of a mounting robot 4, and then taken out. If in this condition installing/aligning pawls 23, 24 are put in plumb closed state, chucking parts 23a, 24a of these installing/aligning pawls 23, 24 clamp the shank 11 of the valve 10, and valve alignment is carried out. Thus the shank 11 of the valve 10 clamped at said hand 21 in aligned stated is fitted to a valve guide of a cylinder head fixed on a mounting station through the action of the above-mentioned mounting robot 4. This is followed by release of valve clamping with said clamp takeout pawls 22 and the installing/aligning pawls 23, 24.
