Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the parts having excellent corrosion resistance and wear resistance as well as a nearly golden color tone by forming a golden-colored and hardened compd. layer mainly composed of titanium nitride on a surface and forming a golden-colored coating layer consisting of a specific gold-chromium alloy thereon. CONSTITUTION:The golden-colored and hardened compd. layer mainly composed of the titanium nitride is formed on the surface and further the golden colored coating layer consisting of the gold-chromium alloy contg. chromium at >=0.05wt.% and <=5wt.% of the weight of the gold is formed thereon. An important requirement is to use the gold-chromium alloy. There is a problem in adhesion and wear resistance if the film of pure gold is formed on the golden-colored and hardened compd. layer mainly composed of the titanium nitride by an ion plating method, etc., in place of the gold-chromium alloy. The adhesion and wear resistance are improved by adding >=0.05wt.% chromium to the gold. The color tone exhibits the beautiful golden color which is nearly on a par with the color tone of 24 to 14K pure gold and gold alloys. The color tone bears a highly whitish color and is different from the color tone of the gold if >=5wt.% chromium is added to the gold. The purposes cannot be attained in such a case.
