PURPOSE: To detect easily abnormalities in feeding with a carrier tape by a method wherein an emitting part and a receiving part of a photoelectric sensor for detecting positions of box-like parts of the carrier tape are provided on both sides in a guide groove for guiding the box-like parts so that the emitting and the receiving parts are positioned apart with a slippage approximately the same in dimension as a pitch between feeding perforations in the direction of tape feeding.
CONSTITUTION: A parts taping apparatus is equipped with a carrier tape 43 that is composed of a base tape 43a and a number of box-like parts 43c provided at equal intervals T in the longitudinal direction of the base tape. The base tape 43a is guided with steps 1a of a tape guide frame 1, and the box-like parts 43c are guided with a guide groove 1b of the tape guide frame 1. An emitting part 2 and a receiving part 3 of a photoelectric sensor are provided on both sides of the guide groove 1b so that a distance S between the emitting part 2 and the receiving part 3 becomes approximately the same as a pitch P between feeding perforations 43b. Namely, a slippage S in positions of the emitting part 2 and the receiving part 3 in the tape feeding direction is made larger than the pitch P between the feeding perforations 43b, and is made smaller than the distance T between the box-like parts 43c. Thereby, slippage in position of the carrier tape 43 can be detected correctly.
