Abstract:
Production of cellulose pulps, particularly for papermaking having improved properties by subjecting hot, at least partly and preferably chemically, delignified and defibrillated pulp of high concentration to the mechanical action of two working surfaces mutually displaced in relative motion in a closed chamber at superatmospheric steam pressure, for the compression, bending and rolling of the individual fibres without significant breakage of these. Extends the known advantages of pressure refining to defibrillated partly or wholly delignified cellulose pulps, so that a reduction in the content of long fibre material and therefore a cost reduction in the manufacture of paper is secured, while giving a product with improved properties e.g. tear strength, tensile energy absorption (in the wet section) etc.
