Abstract:
To improve safety by discriminating between normal movement of a user and delay of the user due to falling, even when the user has fallen near a lower part R section of the footsteps on a lower get-on/off floor side.SOLUTION: A passenger conveyor 1 includes at least: a plurality of footsteps 5 which are endlessly connected and circularly moved; a handrail constitution member arranged along a moving direction of the footsteps 5 across an upper get-on/off floor 2 and a lower get-on/off floor 3 by which users get-on/off the footsteps 5; and an endless moving handrail 7 moving in synchronization with the footsteps 5 by being guided by the handrail constitution member. The footsteps 5 at a lower get-on/off floor 3 side are constituted to be a lower part R section 18 changing its inclination direction from a horizontal direction during movement. Sensors 20 and 21 are installed on the handrail constitution member in the vicinity of the lower part R section 18, and the sensors 20 and 21 detect behavior of a user, and discriminates whether the behavior is normal movement of the user at the lower part R section 18, or delay of the user due to falling.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
