Abstract:
To provide a passenger conveyor capable of stopping steps at an appropriate distance at occurrence of a power failure or a device failure, even when the steps are configured to be stopped gently.SOLUTION: A passenger conveyor includes endlessly-connected steps, a motor for driving the steps, a brake for mechanically stopping the rotation of a drive shaft of the motor, a speed detection unit for detecting the driving speed of the steps, and a control unit for controlling the operation of the brake. The control unit, when a predetermined condition is satisfied to reduce the driving speed of the steps, monitors the driving speed of the steps and an elapsed time from the satisfying of the predetermined condition, and causes the brake to operate at whichever timing satisfied first between first timing when the driving speed of the steps is reduced to a predetermined speed and second timing when a predetermined time elapses from the satisfying of the predetermined condition.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 21
