Abstract:
To provide a passenger conveyor capable of stopping steps gently at an appropriate distance when a power failure or a failure of an inverter occurs during driving of the steps.SOLUTION: An escalator includes endlessly-connected steps, a motor for driving the steps, an inverter that is inputted with electric power from the outside and supplies electric power for driving to the motor, a brake for mechanically stopping the rotation of a drive shaft of the motor, and a control unit for controlling the operation of the brake. The control unit, when detecting a power failure or a failure of the inverter during driving of the steps, causes the brake to operate at timing corresponding to the driving direction of the steps and the boarding rate estimated based on the output current value of the inverter.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
